Kingston :
Kingston is the largest city of Jamaica and it’s also the capital city of Jamaica located at the southern east coast, considered the administrative, cultural and industrial hub of Jamaica. The city consists mainly of two parts one is the Downtown and the other is New Kingston. In the Americas,Kingston is the largest predominantly English-speaking city south of the United States.
Kingston plays a central role in Jamaica’s economy. The vast majority of economic activity takes place within Kingston, and as since most government ministries are located in the city, it is a key force in legislation in regards to Jamaica’s finances. The high population density of the capital city means that the majority of monetary transactions occur in Kingston - stimulating much of Jamaica’s local economy. Air Jamaica is headquartered in Kingston.
Montego Bay :
“Montego Bay” is the capital of St. James Parish and the second largest city of Jamaica by area and the third by population (after Kingston andSpanish Town).
Jamaica is a sprawling city with Jamaica’s largest airport shopping and cruise line terminal. Montego Bay’s coast land boasts numerous tourist resorts. The famous “White Witch’s” Rose Hall property is one of the most popular historic attractions in Montego Bay. It also harbors the famous Jamaican beach, Doctor’s cave beach and the city is beautifully surrounded by the low mountain ranges. It is a tourist destination known for its duty free shopping, cruise line terminal .The city is backed by picturesque low mountains.
Portmore :
“Portmore” is another famous Jamaican city and it’s situated in Southern part of Jamaica in the south west of Kingston. Portmore was just recently awarded this status- and rightly so, it was the fastest growing area in Jamaica. Just 11 miles west of the city of Kingston, it was estimated to be home to an estimated 170,000 low to middle-income families.
Today, Portmore is one of the most important cities in the island nation and comprises of approximately 10% of the population of the Kingston Corporate Area.It has since grown as a suburban city to Kingston, as its large population travels via the Causeway Bridge into Kingston daily, for work, schooling, and many other essential services.
Spanish Town :
Spanish Town is the capital and the largest city in the parish of St. Catherine in the county of Middlesex, Jamaica. It was the former Spanish and English capital of Jamaica from the 16th to the 19th century. The city is home to numerous memorials, the national archives, a small population, and one of the oldest Anglican churches outside of England (the others are in Virginia, Maryland and Bermuda).
